Hectic. One word to describe my life at the moment. So many big things are happening. The biggest one has to be the newest addition to my family, my baby niece. Only now am I understanding the term "bundle of joy". Babies are literally a small bundle, and they bring so much joy!! Every night and day and spare moment I have, I just stare at her, sleeping, crying, eating, pooping and smiling. Thank God the delivery went well and both baby and mama are doing very well!
I've been so preoccupied with the baby, among other things, I haven't had a chance to sit down properly and update all my food adventures. So I want to restart by talking about an event I was invited to by Rendezvous Hotel, Scarborough.
As the title implied, Mr. T and I rushed to the hotel after work, we, unfortunately, missed out on the pre-drinks and canapes that everyone raved about. But, nonetheless, we were grateful to be able to attend and meet some lovely people and try good food.
Cured Hiramasa Kingfish with Togarashi Dust |
Charcuterie Tasting Plate |
Indiana Ocean Tasting Plate |
Market Garden Board |
For entree, we were offered plenty of choices, and as we sat in the middle of the long table, we were able to try a little bit of everything before it diminished when it reached the other end. I really enjoyed the Hiramasa Kingfish, while Mr. T couldn't resist the grilled octopus from the Indian Ocean tasting plate. Apologies to anyone who missed out because of him =P.
Fish of the Day - Gold Band Snapper |
For the main course I chose the fish of the day, which happened to be Gold Band Snapper. I liked the flavours, although I thought the fish was very tough and the flavours did not seep into the middle of the fish. Really enjoyed munching on the crispy onion rings though!
Passion fruit Textures |
Deconstructed Black Forest Gateau |
Then the time came for everyone's favourite course, dessert. All their desserts sounded amazing, but we settled on the Passion fruit Textures and Deconstructed Black Forest Gateau. The passion fruit textures was delicious and it looks like sunshine on a plate. A bit on the sour side, and the passion fruit flavour was very strong, which I like! The deconstructed black forest looked like Christmas on a plate! Really enjoyed this dessert, however, we thought the chocolate coating on the vanilla popsicle was a little too thick, making it difficult to crack into.
Below is a dessert we didn't get to try, but I couldn't get over how cute and pretty it looked!
Mandarin Cheesecake |
We left the restaurant with very full and satisfied bellies. Thanks Rendezvous Scarborough for the invite!
