Little Birdy Told me about Little Bird - Northbridge

What to do on a sunny morning on your day off? Go for a healthy breakfast of course. This time to be accompanied by the then young intern Miss. J (she's now a fully registered pharmacist!). At work she has been raving about the food at Little Bird, so there was no question where we were going for breakfast!

The menu at Little Bird is quirky, original and definitely healthy. It took us a very long time to decide what to order. Well, it took me a long time to decide, it took Miss J about two seconds. 

Green Brekky Bowl ($17.50)

I finally decided on what is possibly the healthiest item on the menu, the green brekky bowl. True to its name, everything on this bowl, other than the mushrooms and egg, are green, including their green hollandaise! I loved the sauteed mushrooms and the perfectly poached egg. The salad itself lacked a light dressing or more of the hollandaise would've been very nice. I was reading reviews on Little Bird Cafe and a very clever reviewer said they always had bacon with their green brekky bowl! I thought this was genius and would certainly give the dish a bit more oomph and flavour. However, without the bacon it was already very filling, but I did crave for something tastier after. 

Banana and Coconut Buckwheat Pancake ($19.90)

Miss J. stuck to her favourite Little Bird Cafe dish, their banana and coconut buckwheat pancake. This pancake looked so colourful, vibrant and fresh. The freshly cut fruit was just that, fresh. The pancake was soft and fluffy and thick, just the way I like it. They also served the honey in an adorable mini glass bottle. Overall a winning dish, and I wished I had ordered this instead.

So, it might sound like I was very disappointed in my green brekky bowl. To be honest it was just a little to healthy than what I'm used to! I will definitely be back to Little Bird to try other dishes, especially their burgers (that's more the dishes I'm used to! I've always wondered why I can't look like Miranda Kerr...)!
